Adorable Felt Pumpkin

Felt Pumpkin

From North of the Boulevard~

I recently saw a pin called  "How to make a felt pumpkin."  It looked adorable, so I followed the link to ParentPretty. The instructions seemed easy to follow. I was hooked. That's my kind of craft! It's easy enough to be a project shared with your little ones with some assistance.  How cute would it be to have several of these on display, maybe even with the leaf made from paper with their name on it.

Easy Pineapple Blueberry Crumble

Pineapple Blueberry Crumble

From North of the Boulevard~

This is a wonderfully simple, quick and easy dessert. The best part, well aside from eating it, is that it's made in one pan. That equals less clean-up and I'm all for that. I've seen this recipe for years, sometimes called Dump Cake because you just dump all the ingredients into one pan, but that never seemed like such a great name to me. I prefer to call in a crumble.  There are lots of variations of this recipe, so it's hard to narrow it down to give credit.  Mine came about as a trial and error. I tried it with some cinnamon once. I don't recommend that one!

Burlap Squares Wreath

Burlap Wreath

From North of the Boulevard~

Burlap! So many ways to use it. It's such a versatile fabric and so forgiving if you make a mistake along the way in your project. This particular wreath is almost mistake proof though.

Be An Ally

Pride Parade Charleston

Recently, Gloria and I, along with her husband, participated in the Charleston Pride Parade. This was a first for both of us, but it won't be the last. The concept of equality for everyone is one that we both feel strongly about. Marching in the pride parade was a very small gesture, but it is one that meant a lot to us. It was great being out there with open-minded, equality loving people.

Twine Covered Vase

Twine Covered Vase

From North of the Boulevard~

I know it's still August, but I am longing for autumn to arrive! I've started thinking of what kind of autumn decor I want to use this year, even in the midst of 95 degree days. It can't hurt to be a little early. I started with this super simple project.

I had a tall, skinny vase that hasn't been used in years. It's white with green and blue vertical strips and no longer matches any room in my house. I've been meaning to do something with it for the longest time and finally decided on a new look for it.

Coastal Makeover for Powder Room

Coastal Makeover for Powder Room

From North of the Boulevard~

I've lived in my house for ten years and for every day of those years, I've thought, I really need to do something about the wallpaper in the powder room. When we bought the house, three things jumped out as needing to be changed right away: wallpaper in the upstairs main bathroom, the icky linoleum floors in the kitchen and breakfast nook and the wallpaper in the powder room. Someone obviously loved wallpaper more than I do!

Felt Rosettes On Yarn Wreath

Felt Rosettes on Yarn Wreath

From North of the Boulevard~

These little felt flowers are so easy to make, yet they are lovely additions to wreaths, vases, bottles, napkin rings, pillows, picture frames, barrettes… their use is only limited by one’s imagination. There are several different methods for making them, but the one I used for this project is not only easy, but it makes pretty rosettes, too.
