Rustic Jute Wrapped Ornament

Jute Covered Ornament

From North of the Boulevard~

Here's a simple ornament that can become as fancy as you would like to make it, depending on what you add to it. Embellishments are the key to making this stand out on your tree. I made this one for Gloria's rustic tree a couple of years ago. It goes great with the jute twine candy cane ornaments I made for her. All you need for this is a ball, some twine and any embellishments you want to add to make it pretty.

Jute Twine Candy Cane Ornament

jute candy cane ornament

From North of the Boulevard~

Here's quick and easy ornament that adds a touch of rustic charm to a Christmas tree.  I made these for Gloria's first Christmas tree the year she was married. She has a beautiful rustic holiday decor all over her home. Being newly married, she didn't have tons of ornaments, so I decided I could help change that!

Fall Vignette with Printable

Fall Vignette

From North of the Boulevard~

Adding a touch of fall to various spots in my house is always something I enjoy. This foyer table serves as a welcoming vignette as soon as you enter my home. I think it sets a warm, inviting tone for the season. I  love pulling together a look by adding in pieces that, at first glance, might not seem to go together, but after adding pieces, taking some away and adding in others, I got a look I love.

Autumn Deco Mesh Wreath

Autumn Deco Mesh Wreath

From North of the Boulevard~

What is a mother to do when her son asks her to make an autumn wreath for his wife? She goes to the craft store and picks up supplies, of course! I didn't have plans to make another wreath this fall, but I was happy to do so when asked. I questioned him about what style of wreath she wanted and his answer was "oranges, yellows, and browns." Okay, way to be specific. When I asked if she wanted deco mesh, I was told, "I don't know what that is." After a little more back and forth texting, he agreed that was what she wanted. The lesson here is, I should have been speaking directly with my daughter in law!

Working 9-5 With Killer Shoes~Organizing a Wardrobe

pencil skirt

From South of the Boulevard~

Normally for work I am supposed to wear business business attire but every once in a while when I have a meeting to attend, I like to kick it up a notch.  After losing 45 pounds, I have new found confidence in dressing up and picking out clothes.

Rustic Gift Wrapping

From South of the Boulevard~

I always enjoy making the gifts match the rest of my house so its fun to create my own 'Christmas Style.' My home during the holidays has a lot of natural elements with lots of burlap, deep reds and greens and a little bit of a vintage feel. Whatever your style, you can find ways to make your presents part of your holiday decor, too!

Fall Decor Birthday Party

fall decor for birthday party

From North of the Boulevard~

Every year, I try to come up with a theme of sorts for Gloria's birthday. Regardless of the fact that she's now 26 years old, as her mother, I love seeing her smile when she has a first look at the decor. We've come a long way since her Barney party when she turned five! That seems to be one that stands out more than most from her childhood. We had purple everything that year. This year, I decided on a fall decor. The colors of fall are some of her very favorites, so I thought I would incorporate them into her birthday party. The bonus for going with this color scheme is that her apartment is filled with deep orange, red and brown so some of the items will find a home with her after the party.

Embellished Pre-Lit Wreath

DIY wreath

From North of the Boulevard~

Transforming a plain pre lit wreath into something beautiful is easy. I purchased an unadorned pre lit wreath and then decided on what kind of look I wanted it to have. This one was made for my daughter in law last Christmas and I wanted it to be fun and festive.

Burlap Bow Ornament

how to make a burlap bow ornament

From North of the Boulevard~

I saw a burlap ornament bow at Kirkland's a couple of years ago that I knew would fit in nicely with Gloria's rustic decor. It was $6.99 and my first thought was "I can make that for a couple of bucks!" I seem to always have some small pieces of burlap and burlap ribbon on hand and this project was a great way to use them.

100 Days 'til Christmas!

Christmas Tablescape

From North of the Boulevard~

Kicking off our 100 days til Christmas Countdown!

How much do you love to plan for Christmas? I love it! Planning ahead has always been the key to having a stress-free holiday for me. It's 100 days out and there is no better time to get started than now.  From now through Christmas, we'll be posting decor ideas, tutorials, recipes, gift wrapping tips, printables and more as we all plan for Christmas.

One of the first things I like to do is to decide what kind of look or theme various rooms in my house will have each year. One spot that doesn't change too much is my breakfast nook. I love a pretty tablescape and this one gives just the right look to my breakfast nook table. It's fun to pull out various holiday boxes and decide what to use. I change it up a little bit each year, but this one from last year is one of my favorites. I put together the holly theme with items that I've collected through the years. The best thing about this is that none of this was planned or purchased together. But, it all comes together for a lovely tablescape.

Autumn Word Printable & Making Your Own

From North of the Boulevard~

I love the look of canvas wall art, but sometimes I don't love the price. After spotting several while out shopping a few days ago, I decided to try my hand at making printables on burlap for a few of them that I really liked.

It's Close Enough to Fall for Me! Fall Mantel

Fall mantel decor

From North of the Boulevard~

After spending last week working on various projects for my fall mantel decor, I've put all the pieces together and I'm pretty happy with how it came together. I love the colors of fall. The oranges, browns, deep reds and greens all give out such warmth. Warmth is not something we are lacking right now, but when the first cool breeze of fall arrives, I'll be ready to welcome it with my fall mantel and fireplace.

It's Falcon Football Eve

Atlanta Falcons cover photo for facebook

The start of football season has always been a much anticipated time in my house. I've been a fan of the Atlanta Falcons since I was ten years old. I've weathered through some rough times as a fan of a team who has historically had more bad times than good, but nonetheless, each new season brings with it that tried and true saying, "this could be our year!"

Bows Are Easy!

From North of the Boulevard~

A little pop of color can make all the difference. Taking a grapevine wreath from bland to eye catching was the goal I set. I was trying to decide on decor for my autumn mantel and I knew I wanted to use this grapevine wreath. Deciding how to take the look up a few notches  was the fun part. I've mentioned bow making a couple of times in earlier posts, but haven't given my own step by step directions.  Time to change that.

Quick and Easy Pumpkin Make Over

From North of the Boulevard~
Fake pumpkins are ready for harvesting at any and all stores! I picked up an off white pumpkin a couple of days ago, planning to use it on my mantel. Once I placed it there, it looked a little drab. It needed some perking up! I could have painted it. I could have stenciled an initial on it. Or, I could use some chevron burlap ribbon that I bought not knowing when it might come in handy.

Aren’t Moms Awesome?

From South of the Boulevard~

Well, mine is at least and only two other people can say they have the best mom in the whole world. My mom's birthday was a couple of weeks ago. Growing up, my mom always had a way of making birthdays so special and she still does (mine is only a month away and I can’t wait to see what she’s got up her sleeve this year!) and not in the crazy elaborate birthdays that drive parents nuts and make them take out a second mortgage for their kids’ birthdays,  but in the way that created beautiful memories for her children. I remember every birthday because Mom made it special. As I started growing up, I wanted to return the favor.
