Last Minute Thanksgiving Place Cards and My Table Scape

From North of the Boulevard~

Creating place cards for a family gathering of only eight people is not something I've done before. I've really never given any thought at all to the idea. It seems a little unnecessary, but after seeing so many cute ideas on lots of blogs this season, I decided that I wanted to do something this year. So, while it might not be necessary, it makes my Thanksgiving table scape pretty, and really now,  isn't that all that matters?

Paper Squares Stacked Tree

Stacked Paper Christmas Tree

From North of the Boulevard

I'm continuing to try new ideas for various little trees for my Christmas decor this year. This one is stacked paper squares. It's ridiculously easy to make and I had everything on hand that I needed. Even if I had purchased the items, it would have been very inexpensive to put together.

Christmas Word Tree Printable

From North of the Boulevard~

Another Christmas printable. I use PhotoFiltre for this one. As I've mentioned before,  I love framing these and using them throughout my home to add little touches of holiday cheer. This one I made with a little bit of trial and error, trying to find phrases and words that fit the shape of the tree.

Printable Tree

From North of the Boulevard~

I love having fun little pictures like this on display during the holidays. They go well in guest rooms, bathrooms, hallways, any place that might need just a little something for the season. I print them out and place them in a frame to match and I have instant art work.

Santa's Beard Christmas Countdown

From North of the Boulevard~

Recently, I was looking at my daughter-in-law's Christmas Pinterest Board and I saw that she had pinned a Santa's Beard Countdown. I clicked on it to find the source, but it didn't take me to the original source. I decided to do a little looking around for a different one. As luck would have it, this adorable Santa was posted on one of the communities on Google+ that I also post to. I had an idea of how I wanted to display the Santa face and this one would be just right for what I had in mind.

Santa's Key

From North of the Boulevard~

A little while ago, I found a package of small burlap favor bags on clearance. I bought them, not really knowing what I would do with them, but they looked like a craft just waiting to happen to me. I also bought a metal skeleton key from the dollar bin at Michael's thinking that I would make a Santa's secret key craft. Burlap bags + key = craft.

Turning Christmas Cards into Ornaments

From North of the Boulevard~

I've made book page ornaments in the past, but I thought I'd give it a try using something a little firmer. As I was looking through a box with various holiday odds and ends,  I came across several Christmas cards that hadn't been used. I liked that they were made out of heavy brown card stock. I thought they would be perfect for this little project.

Honoring our Veterans

All too often, we take our veterans for granted. They deserve our gratitude, our respect and our efforts to make sure they are treated with honor and dignity. It's more than a day-it should be our mission as a thankful nation to make sure no veteran is ill treated.

Snowball Ornament

Snowman ornament

From North of the Boulevard~

While I was crafting with clear ornaments, I decided to make one of them into a snowman's head. As I was adding things to it, I realized he was going to be a little too heavy for an ornament. I tried attaching a hook, but he kept falling forward. So, I had a change of plans; he is going to sit atop my hot chocolate bar instead of hanging on my tree.

Book Page Christmas Tree

Book Page Christmas Tree

From North of the Boulevard~

I've seen lots of versions of book page Christmas trees and I've read a few tutorials on how to make them. I tried a couple of times to make them and they didn't turn out well. I put the idea of making them aside, but this year, I decided I'd give it one more try.

DIY Curtain Rods for Large Windows

From North of the Boulevard~

I don't know about you, but I'm not willing to spend a bucket full of money for curtain rods. My problem is that I have a large, three paneled window in one of my main living spaces. I love how big it is, but I do not love the price of pretty rods that will fit it. As I was pricing them, I realized to get a look I liked, I would need to spend at least $50.00 for one window.  Plus, the selection I found didn't really offer me what I wanted.  This room has two other double paneled windows as well. Adding up the cost for all three windows was just way over what I wanted to spend for curtain rods. So, I put up some very basic metal rods telling myself I would change them "soonish." Way too much time went by and I noticed a bit of a sag in the middle-that's what I get for using flimsy rods and brackets. That meant it was definitely time for a change.

Coastal Cone Tree and Shell Ornaments

Coastal Cone Tree and Sea Shell Ornaments

From North of the Boulevard~

After redoing my powder room with a coastal decor this summer, I knew I was going to need something different for holiday decor this year for that space. In previous years I used gold and burgundy to match the colors, but this year I wanted to use soft green and white. I decided to decorate a cone tree and have clear shell ornaments beside it.

It's Beginning To Look...

From North of the Boulevard~

November 1st means it's time to get serious about Christmas Shopping! I've been doing some shopping since September, but some people in my family are procrastinators in making wish lists. I'll be giving gifts to loved ones who range in age from 1 to 85, so there are lots of different stores I'll need to visit.
