Hershey Bar Pie

Hershey Bar Pie

From North of the Boulevard~

This recipe has been around for ages. There are a few variations of it out there. If you've made it, you already know how easy it is and how good it tastes. If it's been a while, then this is a reminder!  If not, you should give it a try. It's one of my favorite quick desserts. If you ever want to serve a dessert that's looks and tastes like you spent a long time preparing it when it actually only took about five minutes to put together, then this is for you. It's rich and creamy and melts in your mouth, but I don't think there is a chocolate dessert out there that could be much easier to make than this one.

You'll only need a few items to make this and it can be made in about five minutes. After that, it will need several hours in the refrigerator to set.  It's best if you can make it and leave it overnight.

6  1.55 oz Hershey Bars
2 TSB Butter
1 16 oz tub of Cool  Whip
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 9 inch  Ready Crust- I prefer chocolate graham crust

Break apart the Hershey Bars and add to a large microwave safe bowl
Add two TBS butter, divided into small pats
Microwave for 90 seconds, stir and continue to microwave for 30 second intervals, checking after each 30 seconds
Once melted, add vanilla and stir
Fold  1/2 of the Cool Whip into chocolate mixture and stir
Fold the remaining Cool Whip into the mixture
Stir until the Cool Whip is fully incorporated into the chocolate
Spoon into pie crust.
Cover and refrigerate until ready to serve.

I like to make the pie thick, so I use the 16 oz tub of Cool Whip. If you prefer, you can use a smaller amount.

Melt chocolate and butter and then fold Cool Whip into mixture.

Spread the creamy mixture into the pie crust, cover and refrigerate until set.

Slice and serve.

Hershey Bar Pie

I remember one of my sisters making this for the first time years and years ago. I think she found the recipe on a package of Hershey Bars. I Googled to see what was out there and I found a slightly different version of it on Hershey's Kitchens.

Five minutes of prep time for a dessert that is sure to please~can't beat that!

It is super easy, Laurie. And a little slice goes a long way. It's rich. The great thing about it is that it's still great after being in the fridge for about a week. Let me know if your family loves it!
