April Craft Challenge Post~Brown Paper Bag Gift Bags

From North of the Boulevard~

When I saw that this month's  Craft Challenge was paper bags, I knew just what I wanted to make. At some point in time we bought the Costco size package of paper bags. I don't remember why, but years later, we still have tons of them. Putting some of them to use as gift bags seems like a good idea! This is an easy little project that anyone with a few craft supplies can do in a few minutes.

Spring Basket With Rolled Fabric

Spring Basket With Rolled Fabric

From North of the Boulevard~

This little project happened after I bought four cute baskets from the thrift store for $1.00. I brought them home, not knowing what I was going to do with them other than spray painting each of them in some bright spring time colors. After cleaning and painting them, they definitely looked much better, but they were still a little plain.

Sand Dollar Candle Holder

Sand Dollar Candle Holder Across the Blvd

From North of the Boulevard~

I recently saw a beautiful candle holder made using sea shells posted on Hometalk. Given my love for all things beachy, I had to check it out. The more I saw, the more I loved the idea. Emily at Table and Hearth gives a great tutorial on how she makes candle holders using oyster shells. She's also made them from barnacles and scallops. All of them are lovely.

Spring Wreath Using Burlap & Denim

Spring Wreath Using Burlap and Denim

I've been reworking some of my old wreaths and when I came across this burlap squares wreath, I thought it would be perfect to use for the March Craft Challenge that challenges crafters to make something using an old pair of jeans. The rosettes and the the little bird are made from old, worn out jeans.

Single Letter Monogram Wall Art With Lace

From North of the Boulevard

If you've seen any of my crafts, you know that I love quick and easy projects. I also love using old frames for various types of wall art. This frame has been used and reused for several different looks. This time, I wanted to make a framed initial in a simple, cheap and easy way. I managed to do just that in under ten minutes using things I had on hand.

Irish Blessing Wall Hanging

Irish Blessing Wall Hanging

From North of the Boulevard~

It's time to turn our attention to St. Patrick's Day! If ever there was a holiday that comes around with a roar, it's this one! What started off as a religious feast has been transformed into a day for celebrating all things Irish-or even things not so Irish-like green beer! It's a fun day for many and a day that can be enjoyed by anyone-Irish or not.

I'm on a flower making kick lately! After making some spring spoon flowers, I wanted to add some other flowers to my spring time decor. I wanted something soft and pretty and making silk flowers fit that bill perfectly. Like all of my DIY crafts, these are easy to make! Following the method of using a candle, these flowers turn out so pretty.

Spoon Flowers for the Spring

Plastic Spoon Flowers

From North of the Boulevard~

Using plastic spoons for crafts is nothing new, but it's something that I hadn't done, so I thought I'd give it a try. Making flowers seemed like a good  first time spoon craft for me. They are easy to put together and I've got several ideas in mind for using them in my spring time decor.

A Little Bit About Charleston's Charm & Mod Podge Coasters

From North of the Boulevard~

Charleston, SC is one of the most beautiful cities in the country. Living here for the past 10 years has given me an appreciation of just how lovely this historic city truly is. I've got touches of Charleston throughout my home, including these coasters I made using a set of note cards that depict a number of the landmarks around town. Mod Podge, tiles, felt and the note cards are all I needed for this project.

Stars and Stripes Wall Hanging

Stars and Stripes Wall Hanging

From North of the Boulevard~

Presidents' Day is coming up on February 16 in the US. It's a great time to show our patriotic colors. Rather than making a new wreath which is my usual go to decor item, I went a different route.

Presidents' Day Craft For Kids

President's Day Miniature Felt Hats

From North of the Boulevard~

Presidents' Day is coming up soon. It's on February 16 this year. While this is not a holiday that most people typically decorate for, it can be an occasion to have some fun with children by helping them create a couple of quickly recognizable hats worn by two presidents. These are made using empty ribbon rolls, felt and glue.

Valentine Heart Wreath

Felt Valentine's Heart Wreath

From North of the Boulevard~

I was thinking about making a garland with felt hearts for my mantel, but I decided to do something different for my mantel decor. Since I had taken the time to cut lots of hearts before I changed my mind,  I wanted to come with something to use them for. A wreath seemed like a good idea. When my husband brought home several pieces of wire and asked me if I could use them for something, I knew what I wanted to do with all those felt hearts.

Valentine's Mantel

Valentine's Mantel Decor

From North of the Boulevard~

While creating several Valentine's craft items this year, I decided to do a Valentine's Day themed mantel and fireplace. This is not something I've done in the past, but I have to say, I had fun putting it all together. I think I've found a new tradition. I've combined my DIY crafts with some Dollar Tree finds to pull the heart themed look together.

Book Page Heart

From North of the Boulevard~

I love book page crafts. I've seen so many beautiful creations made from something as simple as pages from a book. I'm amazed at some of the intricate designs I've seen. While I'm not ready to tackle some of the more elaborate book page crafts, I do enjoy making some simple items.

From North of the Boulevard~

I'm enjoying creating several Valentine's Day decor items this year. Typically, I don't decorate for Valentine's Day until the day of, but this year, I'm changing things up. I've decided to put together a Valentine's mantel and this little wreath is going to be a focal point. To make this, I combined several different elements and textures.

From North of the Boulevard~

After I got all my craft supplies organized, I found several items that I wanted to put to use.  I decided I'd get started making a few Valentine's Day decorations. Adding Some Decorative Touches to Craft Supply Space

Decorative Accents for Craft Closet

I've been busy this week sorting through things my home office/craft supply closet. I managed to clear out the entire closet. While reorganizing my craft supply closet, I decided I wanted to create some decorative holders for various things. I didn't want to spend any money though.  The best part is that I had all of the items I needed on hand.
