Santa's Beard Christmas Countdown

From North of the Boulevard~

Recently, I was looking at my daughter-in-law's Christmas Pinterest Board and I saw that she had pinned a Santa's Beard Countdown. I clicked on it to find the source, but it didn't take me to the original source. I decided to do a little looking around for a different one. As luck would have it, this adorable Santa was posted on one of the communities on Google+ that I also post to. I had an idea of how I wanted to display the Santa face and this one would be just right for what I had in mind.

Sarah at  TOMFO made the download available for free. She also has one from last year in blue that is also fabulous. I was super happy to have found this. I want to show Sarah what I did with her Santa and I hope she'll be pleased to know it will be put to good use!

Materials Needed~
Santa Face Printable
Metal Cookie Sheet
Self adhesive magnets
Snowflakes or other embellishment
Hot Glue

How I Made It
My idea was to use a metal baking sheet and magnets.  I purchased a cookie sheet from the Dollar Tree and spray painted it red.  I gave it a coat of spray sealer after the paint dried. I was so excited to dive right in to making this, that I didn't take many photos along the way.

I downloaded the Santa file and printed it on 8.5 x 11 white card stock and placed it on the back of the cookie sheet.

I have a bag full of pom-poms and a package of self adhesive circle magnets, so I didn't need to buy those. I love those little magnets. Just peal off the white paper and stick.

I wrote a little poem for my granddaughter, Allie. It reads,

"Santa lost his whiskers, oh no!
Allie, can you help to make them grow?
Each day give him a puff of white
When it's full he'll be on his way that night!"

I printed that out on white card stock, too and cut it out to fit near the bottom of the cookie sheet. I added a black ribbon across the top of it and some white snowflakes to the corners.

I lined the pom-poms up and down the sides of the sheet. She will have easy access to them when she's placing them on the beard area.

To allow for the sheet to hang on the wall, I made a ribbon loop, stapled it together and hot glued it to the back of the cookie sheet.

I can't wait to show this to my granddaughter when she comes for Thanksgiving. She'll be four in a few weeks, so not only is this something she can have fun with, she can practice number recognition as well. The best part is this is something that can be used more than one year.

Tons of thanks to Sarah for providing such an awesome Santa!  Again, the link for that is Tomfo's Santa Countdown .
